Dolphin Families of the Bay of Kotor: Aerial Insights

Dolphins come to the Bay of Kotor to find food, and there are plenty of fish during the summer.

That means we see these cute creatures almost every day. Our guests often get to see dolphin families too.

In this video, you can see two grown-up dolphins and a calf. Sometimes, older members are also part of the group, while the alfa male watches over from a distance to keep everyone safe.

In dolphin groups, horizontal relationships between individuals usually prevail, such as alliances or social connections between males and females.

We can’t use precise terms like “grandma” or “grandpa” in relation to older members, but distant family members can be present in a dolphin group.

However, this is more related to bonding and social structures within the community rather than generational relationships.

You can experience encounters with dolphins if you follow simple rulesThe most important refers to moving slowly

Dolphins might even play with the waves, which is called bow riding. They love jumping into the water created by the boat’s front.

However, sometimes it’s necessary to turn off the engine. That’s when dolphins may come very close to you. Just remember, these are wild animals, and their behavior is unpredictable.

Our dear guests from Poland captured this incredible video showcasing a pod of three dolphins, likely consisting of a mother, her calf, and a third member.

Warm greetings to our lovely guests for sharing this enchanting encounter!
