For instance, in January, despite a change in weather affecting our squid jigging plans, our guests enjoyed catching small, yet lunch-worthy Common Pandoras. Similarly, in July, the season peaks, offering ample opportunities for guests to fill their baskets with this delightful fish.
Bait and Technique
Catching Common Pandora requires a special approach. We often use live shrimps as bait, which are particularly attractive to this species. These shrimps are caught along the shores, near old stone docks, their glowing eyes revealing their presence at night. This method not only increases the chance of a good catch but also adds an element of authenticity to the fishing experience.
Interestingly, while fishing for Common Pandora, it’s quite common to also encounter Gilt-Head Bream. This often happens because both species thrive in similar habitats – shallow, sandy, or muddy seabeds rich in marine vegetation. Their overlapping preferences for habitat and food sources mean that where you find one, you often find the other. Gilt-Head Bream, with its distinctively mild and sweet flavor, is another delightful catch, adding variety to the fishing experience in Kotor Bay.
